NORCECA Women’s Challenge Cup in Quebec
QUEBEC, Canada, March 6, 2019 – Teams of Canada, Puerto Rico,
Cuba and Mexico will participate in the 2019 Norceca Challenge
Cup Women Final Four Cup in Quebec, Canada from May 29 to June
The participating teams are the host plus the top three ranked
teams of Norceca not qualified to the FIVB Nations League as of
January 1, 2019.
The event is a qualifier to the Challenger Cup of FIVB League of
Nations. The four teams will compete under a round-robin format
from May 31 to June 2.
The winner earns the right to participate in the Challenger Cup
an annual event disputed to replace the lowest ranked team of
the League of Nations in the following year competition.
Bulgaria won the 2018 Challenger Cup last year and will replace
Argentina in this year’s tournament.
The official competition venue approved by Norceca will be the
Sportplex Beau-Chateau in Chateauguay.
Last year the Norceca Challenge Cup took place in Edmonton,
Canada with Puerto Rico defeating host Canada in a thrilling
five-setter 3-2 (22-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-27, 15-8) at the
Edmonton Expo Centre.
