Natalia Valentín proud about winning French Cup

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 5, 2019 - The setter and captain of the national team, Natalia Valentin said to be feeling super proud after winning on the afternoon of Sunday the French Cup with her club St. Raphael, her second trophy in the European volleyball.

The St. Raphael club won its first French Cup by defeating Nantes (20-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-10). St. Raphael is seventh in the standings of the Pro A of France with 28 points (8-10), three points above the ninth place occupied by the Paris St. Cloud with only four dates to close the regular season.

"I am extremely proud and happy to have obtained another victory in my career. There are no words to describe the effort and desire that were shown in both parties. And more for the difficult time in which our team is going through with only 9 players in healthy conditions. We demonstrated that no matter the circumstances, the unity of a team is a key to achieving any goal,"explained Valentin via the social network, WhatsApp from France.

On the expectations at the end of the season, the star setter said, "The reality is that the French Cup is quite different to the league as the playoffs (the league) are series and the cup is just one game. But without a doubt this championship gives us the confidence, the motivation and the desire to look for more in what we have left in the season".

Valentin won his second title in Europe as in 20016 she won the Azerbaijani league with Azerail Baku. Only two other Puerto Ricans have lifted the Scudetto (championship) in Europe as Aury Cruz won three titles with the Rabita Baku of Azerbaijan and Daly Santana in 2017 in France with the Mulhouse.

Three other Puerto Ricans are active in the Pro A series of France. They are Raymariely Santos (Mulhouse), Shirley Ferrer (Vandevour Nancy) and Pilar Marie Victoriá (Beziers). At the moment all the representation in France would be advancing to the postseason with their respective clubs.
