New Record of teams competing in Canada’s Nationals
OTTAWA, Canada, May 23, 2019 - Volleyball Canada’s Nationals’
tournaments held in various cities this month, are in the books
for 2019 with a record total of 962 teams competing this year.
The tournaments kicked off in
the Nation’s Capital with the regional 14U tournament, and
wrapped up this past weekend in Regina at Evraz Place.
“We’d like to thank all our athletes, coaches, officials and
volunteers for participating and helping to make this the
largest Nationals to date,” said Sandra de Graaff, Volleyball
Canada’s Director of Domestic Events. “And of course our
sponsors, suppliers, host cities and staff for helping to create
a fun, exciting and safe environment for this year’s
Members of the Canadian national indoor teams were on hand to
present medals at both the Ottawa and Richmond, BC,
tournaments. And as with last year, Volleyball Stuff was on
hand as the official merchandise supplier, as was our indoor
clothing sponsor, Mizuno.
2019 also introduced Mikasa as Volleyball Canada’s official
indoor ball. Also new this year at the Toronto event, a 3 vs 3
court for sitting volleyball demos, hosted by members of the
men’s national sitting volleyball team.
"There was a lot to take in, but most importantly the courts
were alive with some great volleyball matches and enthusiastic
supporters on the sidelines," said de Graaff. "Participants are
encouraged to fill out the post-event survey to help make future
events even better!"
