New Record of teams competing in Canada’s Nationals

OTTAWA, Canada, May 23, 2019 - Volleyball Canada’s Nationals’ tournaments held in various cities this month, are in the books for 2019 with a record total of 962 teams competing this year.

The tournaments kicked off in the Nation’s Capital with the regional 14U tournament, and wrapped up this past weekend in Regina at Evraz Place.

“We’d like to thank all our athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers for participating and helping to make this the largest Nationals to date,” said Sandra de Graaff, Volleyball Canada’s Director of Domestic Events. “And of course our sponsors, suppliers, host cities and staff for helping to create a fun, exciting and safe environment for this year’s tournaments.”

Members of the Canadian national indoor teams were on hand to present medals at both the Ottawa and Richmond, BC, tournaments.  And as with last year, Volleyball Stuff was on hand as the official merchandise supplier, as was our indoor clothing sponsor, Mizuno.

2019 also introduced Mikasa as Volleyball Canada’s official indoor ball.  Also new this year at the Toronto event, a 3 vs 3 court for sitting volleyball demos, hosted by members of the men’s national sitting volleyball team.

"There was a lot to take in, but most importantly the courts were alive with some great volleyball matches and enthusiastic supporters on the sidelines," said de Graaff.  "Participants are encouraged to fill out the post-event survey to help make future events even better!"
