Nicaragua earns second victory

 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 7, 2017.- Nicaragua defeated Honduras 3-0  (25-20, 25-21, 25-19) earning their second victory at the XVII AFECAVOL U-21 Men’s  Central American Championship at IND Volleyball venue in Managua, Nicaragua.

 

The home team worked to their fullest to prevail over Honduras, who never gave up and battled for each and every point.

 

Nicaragua was more effective over the net with a 43-33 margin in spikes over Honduras; as well as in blocking with a 10-6 advantage.

 

Jonny Zeledon was cheered by the crowd while scoring a match-high of 20 points; Denis Lopez contributed with 12 points. Honduras balanced their attack with Alex Godoy on 11 points and Sebastian Aguirre added 10.

 

Captain Jonny Zeledon of Nicaragua expressed “Honduras kept the score close in the first two sets while taking advantage of our lack of energy. All the teams here are strong, every opponent will put up a battle and we are studying them and play one point at a time”. 

 

Captain Daniel Salinas of Honduras said “it was a close match, Nicaragua benefited from some of our deficiencies. Now we must get back on track and fix today’s errors”.
