Nicaraguan writers recognize players and personalities

RIVAS, Nicaragua, February 4, 2013 – The Nicaraguan junior team of men’s beach volleyball was recognized by the Sport Writers Association of Rivas Department during its first award ceremony attended by distinguished members of the local community.

Beach Volleyball had a special mention as one of the most outstanding sport discipline in 2012 with the first place picked up by the pair of Ruben Mora and Miguel López at the U-21 Central American Championship held at Puerto Cortes, Honduras.

Other personalities awarded during the ceremony were Frank Ruiz and Judith Sandino.

Ruiz, a native of San Juan del Sur like also Mora and Lopez, was recognized for his work in favor of the development of volleyball in that city.

Sandino was recipient of a special mention for her participation as president of the Statistics Commission of   NORCECA and her recent inclusion as member of the Technical Commission of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

Manuel Cárcamo, president of the association, expressed his satisfaction for the presence of the athletes and reiterated the commitment of the entity to continue supporting all the sports, especially in the youth and junior categories.
