Nicaraguans López/Cascante dethrone López/Mora

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, October 10, 2021- Nicaragua continues to dominate the Men's Central American Beach Volleyball by claiming the gold and silver medals, while Guatemala won the bronze in the XX Central American Beach Volleyball Major Championship.

The young Denis López and Jefferson Cascante, won 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) against Dany López and Rubén Mora, who were looking for their third consecutive title, but could not stop the push of López/Cascante, who took the lead in the two sets and did not lower the dominance.

“There are no words to describe this emotion for me, grateful to God and my coach Erasmo Palomo. We know the level we have, although we don't have much experience in this category,”said Denis López.

Meanwhile, Cascante pointed out that “I am very excited, Denis and I did a good job, throughout the Championship, beating couples 1 from Guatemala, Costa Rica and El Salvador… and we finished against Nicaragua, which was the champion. It is my first time in a major tournament and thank God things turned out well”.

Andy Leonardo/Luis García, from Guatemala, took the bronze medal by defeating El Salvador 1 2-1 (14-21, 30-28, 15-9) with Franklin Flores and Armando Guatemala.

Despite losing the first set and coming from behind in the second, Leonardo/Garcia showed determination to score on the key points at the close of the second set that was extended to 30 points.

In the semifinals, Denis López and Jefferson Cascante of Nicaragua 2, won 2-1 (21-12, 18-21, 15-8) against El Salvador 1, with Franklin Flores and Armando Guatemala.

López/Mora, advanced to the final by defeating Andy Leonardo/Luis García, from Guatemala, 2-0 (21-14, 21-16).
