USA to arrive in Baja California on Thursday for U23 World Championship

TIJUANA, Mexico, September 30, 2013.- The United States U23 National team will arrive in Baja California on Thursday October 3rd.

Americans are coached by legendary multi-medal winner Karch Kiraly who was also in charge of the Senior Squad that conquered the Visit Omaha Norceca Continental Championship in Nebraska.

Kiraly is assited by Reed Sunahara, who was known in Mexico for winning two international titles with two different squads in less than one month in 2012 (The Senior’s Pan Am Cup in Ciudad Juarez and the Girls U18 Continental Title in Tijuana).

Kiraly’s and Sunahara achievements in international events on the American bench have registered a combination of success in a little bit more than one year. In 2013 Kiraly won the Women’s Pan American Cup in Peru with Sunahara as assistant. Both also won the Norceca Championship in Omaha, and clinched a berth in the FIVB Women’s Grand Champions Cup.

Now, volleyball fans in Baja California and the U.S.-Mexico border area will have the chance to see the U23 American unit playing with the 21 point test rule in Mexico.

According to the roster registered on the FIVB tournament website USA’s second assistant coach is Joseph Trinsey while Jill Wosmek is the physiotherapist.

At this time there are three teams holding minicamps at the Baja California High Performance Center in Tijuana: Argentina, China and Dominican Republic.

Estados Unidos arribará el Jueves para Mundial Sub 23

Tijuana, Mexico, Septiembre 30 2013.- El equipo nacional de Estados Unidos dio a conocer que el arribo de su equipo a Baja California para el Campeonato Mundial Sub 23 de voleibol femenil está programada para el Jueves 3 de octubre.

La escuadra se encuentra dirigido por el multimedallista olímpico Karch Kiraly, quien hace unos cuantos días también estuvo al frente de la selección mayor, campeona del Norceca Continental de Omaha, Nebraska.

Kiraly es asistido por Reed Sunahara, un viejo conocido para la afición mexicana y Bajacaliforniana, ya que en Juárez ganó la Copa Panamericana femenil en Ciudad Juárez y poco después ganó el Continental de Norceca Sub 18 en Tijuana.

Karch Kiraly y su asistente Reed Sunahara suman una gran cantidad de títulos internacionales combinados entre sí.

En 2013 Kiraly ganó la Copa Panamericana de Mayores en Perú con Sunahara como asistente. Ambos también consiguieron el título para la selección mayor en el Norceca de Omaha y el pase a la Gran Copa de Campeones.

Ahora llega la oportunidad de que los aficionados en México y en la zona fronteriza de Baja California vean al equipo estadounidense de la categoría sub 23 jugar con la regla de prueba a 21 puntos.

El segundo asistente de la escuadra estadounidense, de acuerdo con la plantilla registrada en el micrositio oficial del torneo en la página de la FIVB, es Joseph Trinsey y la fisioterapeuta es Jill Wosmek.

Hasta este momento se encuentran concentrados tres equipos por anticipado en el Centro de Alto Rendimiento de Baja California: Argentina, China y República Dominicana.
