Jimenez Lao is new president of Costa Rica NF
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 10, 2012 – Jose Luis Jimenez Lao
was elected as new president of the Costa Rican Volleyball
Federation for the next two years.
In a close voting that took three rounds, Jimenez Lao edged
Minor Valenciano, the acting president following the appointment
of former president William Corrales as minister of sport of
Costa Rica. Valenciano will continue to preside over the beach
volleyball department.
Lao, who is currently the general secretary of NORCECA
Volleyball Confederation, has had a long career in volleyball as
player, referee and manager and has been part of different
executive committees both national and international.
The new president confirmed that his immediate duties are to
prepare the national teams both men’s and women’s for the
Central American Senior Tournament and the Central American
Games of 2013.
“The idea is to improve the results of the national teams and
that Costa Rica transcend at the international level,” said
Jimenez Lao.
One of the most ambitious projects of Jimenez Lao is to have a
volleyball complex with two, three or four courts with all the
conditions for training.
He also considered of vital importance to take advantage of the
new national women’s coach Horacio Bastit of Argentina, to train
the technical staff of the minor leagues and to improve the
level of the sport. |
