NORCECA concludes two-day working session in Tijuana

 

TIJUANA, Mexico, November 20, 2012 – NORCECA’s Sport Organizing Commission successfully concluded here a two-day working session in anticipation of its regular meeting scheduled on December 9-10 in Santo Domingo.

 

“It was very important and necessary to set up our December meeting because everyone is now well informed and prepared,” President of NORCECA Cristobal Marte Hoffiz said. “It would be impossible to complete all the work in the two-day agenda of next month.”

 

Marte Hoffiz, who is also FIVB First Executive Vice President, underscored that the attendants received clear information with updated reports from volleyball and beach volleyball departments.

 

“Now we will be in a position to define our competition calendar for both volleyball and beach volleyball in 2013,” he said. “It has been a good and helpful experience that we should repeat again in the upcoming years.”

 

The closing message was pronounced by Ismael Acosta, president of Mexican Volleyball Federation, who highlighted the enthusiasm and willingness of each member of the commission.

 

“I really appreciate the family of NORCECA for coming to our country,” Acosta said. “Your presence here is very familiar and it helps us to have a better organized sport in Mexico.”

 

“The fact that we have enthusiasm will contribute to the development in our zone,” Acosta added. “I also want to express my personal appreciation to NORCECA and the Baja California Sports Institute Director, Saul Castro Verdugo, for all the support.”

 

In the last day of activities, there was a review in some topics concerning the Control Committees structure for tournaments according to the number of competing teams and categories, such as Youth, Junior and Senior.

 

They also analyzed the marketing fees and commercial strategies citing the success achieved in those efforts by some of the Caribbean federations such as Saint Lucia and Cayman Islands with their beach volleyball tournaments.

 

Concerning Beach volleyball the activities program for 2013 and the proposals for the Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers were on the agenda as part of the development plans in the region.
