Aruba Tournament set to serve off at Druif Beach

Oranjestad, Aruba, November 29, 2012 – Saint Lucia will play against Panama in the men’s competition while USA-A will meet Costa Rica-B in the women’s division as the Aruba Beach Volleyball Tournament kicks off at Druif Beach on Friday morning.

The eleventh and final stage of the 2012 NORCECA will have a money-prize purse of US$16,000 with the winning pair per gender pocketing US$3,000.

Filomena Curiel, president of Aruba Volleyball Association, welcomed the athletes during the general technical meeting held at Divi Aruba Hotel and wished all them a pleasant stay in the islands.

“I wish all of you can enjoy Aruba but the main objective is to play up to the highest of your capacity and to give a good show of volleyball,” she said.

Nelson Ramirez, delegate of NORCECA, proudly expressed that beach volleyball is a reality in NORCECA while announced that next year the circuit will expand to 15 tournaments.

Arnaldo Sanchez, technical director, informed that teams will be divided in four pools according to the current rankings of 2012 and the top three teams will move to the championship bracket on Saturday’s afternoon.

It is the first time Aruba is hosting one of the stops of the NORCECA Circuit as also was the case in Saint Lucia last October.
