Opening in Aruba includes Carnival Show

ORANJESTAD, Aruba, November 30, 2012 – The official opening ceremony of the Aruba Beach Volleyball Tournament held on Friday night featured a small but meaningful sample of the traditional Carnival of Aruba.

The queen of this year’s festival accompanied by the junior princess and prince led the participant members of the local group that paraded in front of the players involved in the eleventh and final stage of the 2012 NORCECA Circuit at Druif Beach.

The Aruba Carnival is a month-long thrilling show of music, dance, costumes and marches that starts in February and includes street parties, big parades and music mixing reggae, calypso, soca, steel and brass bands.

Filomena Curiel, president of the Aruba Volleyball Association, expressed her satisfaction for the opportunity to host for the first time one of the stages of the annual circuit now in its seventh edition.

Nelson Ramirez, NORCECA’s delegate and Arnaldo Sanchez, technical director, also took turns to praise the local organizers and the Ministry of Tourism of Aruba for its support to the organization.
