Puerto Rico finishes in Seventh no place

 

GUADALAJARA, Mexico, October 29 2011.— Puerto Rico finished in the seventh place after defeating Venezuela in five sets (25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 15-8) in the last day of competition at the XVI Pan American Games.

 

Victor Rivera ended as top scorer for Puerto Rico with a total of 20 tallies, while Juan Figueroa scored 15, Jean Carlos Ortiz 13 and Roberto Muniz 11.

 

For Venezuela Josher Contreras registered 18 points and Ivan Marquez 14, while Luis Arias tallied 11 and Maximo Montoya 10, with four successful blocking plays.

 

Venezuela with a very young roster finished in the eighth place, but with higher expectations in the near future after a learning experience, guided by their coach Gilberto Idolo Herrera.
