President Graça F° meets with IOC President

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, October 9, 2012 - Dr. Ary S. Graça F° was personally congratulated on his election as the new FIVB President by IOC President Dr Jacques Rogge during an inaugural meeting between the two at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland on Tuesday.

 

Dr. Graça F° was accompanied to the IOC by FIVB Honorary Life President Jizhong Wei, FIVB 1st Executive Vice President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, Executive Vice President and Treasurer Dr Amr M. Elwani, Board of Administration member Vicente Araujo and FIVB General Director Carlos Luiz Martins.

 

Dr Rogge welcomed the FIVB delegation before Dr Graça F° met the IOC President discussing the future of the FIVB and the democratic change which has occurred at the FIVB over the past four years which Dr Rogge acknowledged has helped significantly modify the relationship between the IOC and the FIVB.

 

Dr Rogge also praised the FIVB on the transparent election process during the FIVB World Congress, held in Anaheim, USA on September 21 which he said could be a model.

 

Dr Graça F° of Brazil is the fourth President in the history of the FIVB following Paul Libaud (France) 1947-1984, Dr Ruben Acosta (Mexico) 1984-2008 and Jizhong Wei (China) 2008-2012.
