BAYAMON, Puerto Rico, October 17, 2009 –Cuban
sensation Wilfredo Leon was elected the Most
Valuable Player of the NORCECA Men’s Continental
Championship won by his team on Saturday.
The teen-ager Leon was also the best spiker of
the competition and received the award as the
Cubans Roberlandy Simon and Raydel Hierrezuelo
took home the plaques as best blocker and best
setter respectively and Orlando Samuels received
the “Jim Coleman Award” as the best coach.
Puerto Rican Gregory Berrios won the recognition
as best digger, best receiver and best libero
while Evan Patak of USA was elected as the best
server. Dominican Jose Caceres was the top
scorer of the event.
