GUATEMALA, October 21, 2009 - FIVB President Mr.
Jizhong Wei arrived in Guatemala to attend the
XX NORCECA Congress to be held at Soleil Hotel
in Antigua Guatemala on October 23-24.
Mr. Wei and his wife were greeted at the
Ambassadors Salon of Aurora Airport by Mr.
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA and
FIVB First Executive Vice President, Mrs. Marta
Centeno de Sajche, FIVB Executive Vice President
and Mr. Enrique Santis, President of the
Guatemala Volleyball Federation.
The presence of Wei in Guatemala for the
important meeting reflects the support FIVB is
offering to the Continental Confederations since
his inception as president of the institution a
year ago. He recently also attended the CAVB
Congress in Algeria.
During his stay in Guatemala, Wei will meet with
representatives of the Ministry of Culture and
Sports, and other local sport authorities
including Olympic leaders. A press conference
will be held on Wednesday at the National
Palace.
“We are really happy with the attendance of Mr.
Wei to our NORCECA Congress,” said Marte Hoffiz.
“It shows his commitment to impulse volleyball
throughout the world.”
“We are also satisfied with the hard work by the
Volleyball Federation of Guatemala hosting our
XX Congress and I am sure that it will be a
successful one,” he added.
Before the two-day Congress, the NORCECA
Confederation will held its Executive Committee
meeting and also the Union Panamericana de
Voleibol (UPV), headed by Mr. Ary Graça, FIVB
Executive Vice President, will have its annual
meeting.
