ANTIGUA, Guatemala, October 22, 2009 – The
Executive Committee and Board of Administration
of NORCECA held an extraordinary meeting here on
the occasion of the 2009 Congress which was
attended by FIVB President, Mr. Jizhong Wei.
During the meeting, Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
President of NORCECA, informed the members of
the agenda of the Congress and also explained
some of the most important proposals to be
submitted to the assembly, including the
substitutions and additions to the governing
bodies of the institution.
Mr. Marte Hoffiz also outlined the plan for the
new design of the NORCECA website and described
the qualification process of the 2010 FIVB World
League. He also informed that the meetings of
Sport Organization and also Beach Volleyball
Commissions will take place next December in
Santo Domingo.
The President of NORCECA also described as
“outstanding” the growth of Beach Volleyball and
the increase of the competition expected for
next year.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wei explained the members about
the new policy in place in FIVB, regarding
“transparency and openness, democracy,
decentralization and supervision.”
He remarked the importance that FIVB is paying
to the underdeveloped countries in volleyball
reiterating that “Federations Category 1 and 2
will receive deserved special attention.”
