Panamá defeats El Salvador in first win

 

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 7, 2017.- Panama defeated El Salvador 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 20-25, 25-19) in first tournament win at the XVII AFECAVOL U-21 Men’s Central American Championship being held at IND Volleyball venue in Managua, Nicaragua

 

Panama benefited from El Salvador’s lack of concentration in the first set to earn their first victory of the event. Panama has a1-1 win-loss record while El Salvador lost their second match.

 

Panama scored from everywhere with Jose Soto, Rodrigo Rodriguez and Jose Anguizola scoring 12 points apiece, while Josue Palma topped El Salvador with a match-high of 17 points. El Salvador committed 44 errors.

 

Panama prevailed in all skills, with 37-25 advantage in spikes, 9-4 in blocking and 5-3 and serves.

 

Captain Josue Davila of El Salvador said “we were too nervous in the beginning, we improved in the second set and we even won set three, we did well in set four but we failed in serves and lost concentration”.

 

Captain Jose Anguizola of Panama indicated “we started off strong, gaining confidence; now we have already observed all our opponents played and we must fix some small details to play better”.
