Plan to Develop Sitting Volleyball
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 21, 2013 – A
proposal to develop sitting volleyball throughout all the
member
countries
of NORCECA Confederation was presented during
the meeting of the Coaches Commission held on Thursday in Santo
Domingo.
The proposal was made by Beato Miguel Cruz of Dominican Republic
who commented about the acceptance by the public and the success
of the volleyball for people with disabilities attained during
the last two editions of the Paralympic Games.
The project includes a series of training courses for coaches at
the Regional Development Centre in Dominican Republic and to
start planning events in 2014.
The proposal will be presented to the Executive Committee and
Board of Administration during its meetings next April.
During the meeting, presided over by Eugenio George Laffita of
Cuba, the members of the commission received the reports of the
instructors of NORCECA conducting courses and training programs
in the zones of Central America, the Caribbean and Eastern
Caribbean in 2012 and also the plan projected for 2013.
The president of NORCECA, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, made a report
of the development of programs in schools and the distribution
of equipment for school volleyball in the different regions of
the confederation.
Nelson Ramirez, director of the development center in Dominican
Republic, presented the working plan for this year which
includes several courses for coaches in several categories.
Besides George Laffita and Cruz, the other members of the
commission who attended the meeting were: John Kessel of USA,
Francisco Cruz of Trinidad and Tobago, Rene Quintana of
Nicaragua, Cesar Ozuna of Mexico, Ariel Sainz of Cuba, Julien
Boucher of Canada and Juan Acuña of Costa Rica. |
