RIMINI, Italy, June 6, 2021 – Poland claimed a
come-from-behind 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 25-21,
25-17, 15-7) victory over Canada in the opening
day of the third week at the FIVB Women’s
Volleyball Nations League on Sunday.
The Polish outscored the Canadians in blocks
(16-14) and aces (8-5) while committing 17
errors to 27 by the defeated side. The North
Americans held the advantage in attacks (59-57).
Poland now has a 4-3 win-loss record, while
Canada dropped to 2-5.
Malwina Smarzek was the best scorer for the
Polish squad with 23 points and Martyna Lukasic
contributed 17 points in the victory. Zuzanna
Efimienko-Mlotkowska finished with 10 points
while Alagierska Klaudia and Zuzanna Gorecka
each had 9 for the winners.
Kiera Van Ryk led Canada with a match-high 28
points, Emily Maglio and Andrea Mitrovic each
had 13 points and Hillary Howe added 11 tallies. |
