Productive NORCECA Executive Committee & Board of Administration Virtual Meeting

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 30, 2022.- The Executive Committee and Board of Administration of the North, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation NORCECA held a productive virtual meeting on Saturday, ahead of the XXVI NORCECA Congress on September 16-17, 2022.

NORCECA president Cristobal Marte Hoffiz gave the welcoming words to the working session which purpose was to review and discuss matters ahead of the next NORCECA Congress, including the 2022 calendar competition which is already underway and remaking his satisfaction that each Zonal Association are back to competition after the restrictions caused by the COVID 19 Pandemic.

“I am satisfied with the great effort from all our members to keep volleyball active in our Confederation and that all the matters in discussion have been prepared ahead of time, every topic is currently posted on our NORCECA website for everyone to review and make this an efficient meeting to reach our goals”, said Marte Hoffiz.

President Marte Hoffiz highlighted the 2021 calendar was completed and the 2022 calendar is running according to scheduled commending everyone for coming out from challenging times.

Along with the NORCECA working commissions reports and the discussions held during their respective commission virtual meetings earlier this year, the president’s NORCECA report was also presented.

Important aspects were underlined for Beach Volleyball with the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association CAZOVA implementing their under-23 Zonal Tour and the I Central American and Caribbean Beach Games for the last week of November; and a new world tournament of 4X4 Beach Volleyball is also scheduled for 2023.

Concerning development, the Empowerment program from the FIVB for the hiring of coaches, an additional financial support for traveling and lodging expenses is being provided by the NORCECA Confederation.

The work of the Regional Development Center in Santo Domingo was also presented, and the members of the Board of Administration were informed that with a joint effort from PANAM SPORTS, a Beach Volleyball camp for under-21 players will take place in October and the program has been submitted.

Members of the Board of Administration will present to the NORCECA Congress a proposal to be discussed in the matter of the gender minority representation in the FIVB Board of Administration.
