SAMOKOV, Bulgaria, July 11, 2015 - Puerto Rico defeated Croatia
3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17) in the first ever encounter
between the two teams.
The victory earned Puerto Rico of a spot in the finals of Group
2 to be played in Poland. It was the fourth victory of Puerto
Rico.
Karina Ocasio amd Stephanie Enright topped Puerto Rico with 18
and 15 points, respectively. Aury Cruz contributed 14 points in
the victory. Dinka Kulic was the best for Bulgaria with 18
points, while Senna Usic added 16 in the loss.
One day earlier, Puerto Rico had defeated Czech Republic 3-2
(25-20, 25-22, 19-25, 13-25, 18-16) with Karina Ocasio leading
the way with 33 points.
In Formosa, Argentina, Canada prevailed in the fourth set
scuffle to gain a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 31-29) win over
hosts Argentina in Pool L at the Stadium Sincuentario on Friday.
Tabitha Love topped all scorers with 22 points to lead the
Canadian offence. Paula Nizetich and Lucia Fresco each scored 17
points for Argentina. |
