Puerto Rico announces team to Challenger Cup

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, May 13, 2018 – Hours before departing the island for their first event of the year, coach Javier Gaspar divulged the names of the 12 players included in the women’s volleyball team to represent Puerto Rico at the NORCECA Challenger Cup in Edmonton, Canada from May 15 to 20.

 

The competition grants one ticket to the FIVB Challenger Nations League Finals next June.

 

The team’s captain is outside hitter Daly Santana.

 

Besides Santana, the outside hitters of the squad are Pilar Marie Victoriá, Noami Santos and Jenselyn Morales with opposites Shirley Ferrer and Génesis Collazo.

 

Middle blockers are Jennifer Quesada, Ana Sofía Jusino and Alba Hernández alonsgide setters Raymariely Santos and Jennifer Nogueras. Shara Venegas is the libero.

 

Puerto Rico will play in Pool B against Nicaragua and Cuba. Pool A consists of Canada, Trinidad & Tobago and Costa Rica. The top ranked teams will play on May 20 to decide the qualification to the FIVB Challenge Cup.
