Punta Cana Tournament gets underway on Friday

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic September 28, 2018 – The Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament, the fourth stop of the 2018 NORCECA Circuit, gets underway on Friday at 9:00 a.m. with a marathon of 42 matches -22 men’s and 20 women’s.

Twenty-one teams have registered in each gender including several who arrived late on Thursday night hours after the general technical meeting.

In the men’s competition Medina and Jeambatis of Dominican Republic challenge Santiago and Rivera of Puerto Rico in Pool D in court 1 while in Pool E, Tato and Pepe of El Salvador go against Theodore and Waldo of Trinidad & Tobago in court 2.

The first match of the women’s event will have Berroa and Payano of Dominican Republic against Araya and Ramírez of Costa Rica.

Teams went through preliminary enquiry conducted by Bienvenido Mateo and Salvador Bautista, VIS and Referee delegate, respectively. The competition director is Daymian Stewart of Trinidad & Tobago and Amos Anglade is the general coordinator.

The Organizing Committee of the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament is presided over by Ernesto Veloz who is also the president of hotels association of Punta Cana.
