Rain did not stop the battle for tickets to semis
HUIXQUILUCAN, Mexico, June 7, 2014 - Despite a heavy rain during
the last matches at the Bosque Real Country Club the fifth stop
of the Norceca International Beach Volleyball Tour has its
semifinalists.
Bibi Candelas and Martha Revuelta of Mexico 1, advanced over
Stephanie Burnside and Yesenia Castro of Mexico 2 in a 21-15
victory.
The big surprise in quarterfinals was given by Brandie Wilkerson
and Claudia Seguin of Canada2, after beating Lianma Flores and
Mallen Delis of Cuba (21-16, 21-18).
Local athlete Haydee Lopez who played along with Mayra
Santacruz for Mexico 3, qualified to quarterfinals after beating
Elia Torres and Jacqueline Torruño of Nicaragua (21-12, 21-8).
But on the next round, they had to face Caleigh Whitaker and
Kacie MacTavish of Canada1, who won 21-18 and 21-14.
USA 1 and USA 2 fought for the ticket to the semis. Victory was
for Tealle Hunkus and Kimberly MacGiven, who defeated their
fellowpatriots Allison Daley and Kendra Vanzwiten by scores of
14-21, 21-13 and 15-10.
Final day Matches of both genders will be broadcasted on Sunday
by TDN, Televisa Deportes Network whose signal is available in
cable and satellite providers in Mexico and abroad.
