Rodriguez-Haddock to defend the crown in Cayman Islands

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, March 19, 2013 – Puerto Ricans Roberto Rodriguez and Eric Haddock will have the chance to defend their men’s crown at the fifth edition of the Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament, the opening competition of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit.

Rodriguez, who last year won four gold medals including two with Haddock as his partner, has had considerable success in Cayman Islands as he also was runner-up in 2011 with Christopher Underwood as his teammate.

The representatives of Canada have occupied podium positions in all four previous tournaments, including two titles one by Martin Reader and Ray Sewell in 2010 and the other in 2011 by Richard Van Huizen and Josh Binstock.

In the women’s division, the defending champion Bibi Candelas of Mexico, who last year took home the gold medal playing along with Mayra Garcia, will be on the sand of Seven Miles Beach together with compatriot Martha Revuelta, who was runner-up in 2012 playing with Vanessa Virgen.
