TOKYO, Japan, August 2, 2021 – Americans April
Ross and Alix Klinemann advanced to the
quarterfinals of the Tokyo 2020 Beach Volleyball
Tournament after a 2-0 (21-17, 21-15) victory
over Cubans Lidy Echeverría and Leila Martinez.
Also moving to the Last-8 Round were Canadians
Sarah Pavan and Melisa Humana-Paredes who
defeated Spain’s Liliana Fernandez and Elsa
Barquerizo 2-0 (21-13, 21-13).
In the men’s division, Brazilians Alison Cerutti
and Alvaro Morais Filho defeated Mexicans Jose
Gaxiola and Josue Rubio 2-0 (21-14, 21-13) to
move into the quarterfinals-
Also, Julius Thole and Clemens Wickler of
Germany survived a three-set battle against
Americans Jake Gibb and Tri Bourne 2-1 (17-21,
21-15, 15-11). |
