San Juan would host Men’s Pan Am Cup in 2018

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, June 25, 2017 – The president of Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation Dr, Cesar Trabanco had a meeting with the mayor of San Juan Carmen Yulin Cruz Soto to discuss several ítems including the hosting of international events next year in the capital of Puerto Rico.

 

“We met for a couple of hours and it was a friendly and interesting meeting with the honorable mayor who reiterated her support to stage the World Grand Prix in San Juan,” Trabanco explained.

 

The stage of the World Grand Prix will take place from July 14 to16 at Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan. In the competition alongside the new “Guerreras del Caribe” representing Puerto Rico will participate Canada, Bulgaria and Czech Republic.

 

During the meeting, the mayor informed to the president of the federation her interest for hosting the Grand Prix also in 2018 and to have San Juan as host city for the Men’s Pan American Cup next summer.

 

“She mentioned that wants those two events for San Juan and the next step is the official letter from the municipality to be remitted to FIVB and NORCECA, respectively,” added Trabanco.

 

The Roberto Clemente Coliseum has been the stage for great moments in the history of Puerto Rican sports. Last year was the competition venue for the women’s volleyball qualification tournament to Rio Olympic Games.
