CAROLINA, Puerto Rico, July 18, 2014- Dominican Republic booked its second victory in the NORCECA Men’s Final Playoff outplaying Costa Rica.

The Dominican squad faced a strong resistance from Costa Rica but was at the end was able to win by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22.

The Costa Ricans dominated the game at the net but their errors in services and the offense by Dominican Jose Caceres were keys for not achieving the result.

Caceres led the game with 20 points. Germán Recio added 10 and Elnis Palomino had eight in the victory. Once again Richard Smith was the best of the Central Americans with 18 points while Japhet Reid added 14 points.

“Today’s game was not a tough one, but we faced a team of better level. I think we could identify our weak points we need to improve as the tournament goes by”, Dominican Republic’s Coach Jose Alvarez said.

On the other hand, Cesar Salas, Coach of Costa Rica, said the errors with their serves were the keys for the outcome. We gave them too many points in the crucial moments, and also we were not able to stop (José) Cáceres. He hurt us in the key moments.”
