Semifinalists decided in Puerto Rican League
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 16, 2014 – Carolina completed the
four teams qualified to the semifinal phase of the Puerto Rican
Women’ Volleyball Superior League following its straight-set
victory over Catano on Tuesday.
The match-ups for the Final Four stage will be defined on
Wednesday night when Ponce and Carolina clash for the top place
in Pool A.
Carolina defeated Catano 25-21, 25-20, 25-13 with Stephanie
Niemer leading all the scorers in the match with 22 points.
In the other match of Tuesday, Caguas secured the top place in
Pool B with a 17-25, 29-27, 25-23, 25-20 over Mayaguez who
qualified in second.
Karina Ocasio and Stephanie Enright led Caguas with 18 and 17
points, respectively, while Shonda Cole had a match-high 21
points for the defeated side.
The semifinals are scheduled to serve off on Saturday at
Salvador Dijols Pavilion in Ponce.
If Ponce wins against Carolina, they will host Mayaguez and if
they lose the opponents will be Caguas. |
