All Regional Members of NORCECA attended the Congress
ANAHEIM, USA, September 27, 2012 – All eight regional members
of NORCECA Confederation attended the 33rd FIVB World
Congress as observers and had an active participation in the
management seminar that preceded the biennial general assembly
of the volleyball governing body.
Representatives of Curacao, Bonaire, Dutch St Marteen, French St
Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Turks & Caicos and St Eustatius
had the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from other
latitudes of the world.
These Regional Members have been taking part in all regional and
continental competitions within NORCECA.
“NORCECA was the only continental confederation to have its
Regional Members attending the FIVB World Congress,” President
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz said. “We consider it as an important
step forward in their development process. They had the chance
to rub shoulders with the other national federations and that’s
a sign of progress.” Norceca’s Regional members also
participated in the FIVB World Congress held in Tokyo in 2006,
in Dubai 2008, and in Rome 2010.
Norceca’s Regional Member volleyball teams are taking part of
the FIVB World Championship qualification process as part of the
development plan. Some of them like French St. Martin even
hosted one of the first round tournaments earlier this year.
“I consider the participation of our Regional Members as one of
the major achievements and it was quite an experience for all of
them to be in Anaheim as witness of our historic elective World
Congress,” Marte Hoffiz said. |
