Five of the six coaches shared their thoughts about competing at the Women’s World Championship. In the case of Cuba they suffered a delay in Paris, however they were expected to arrive in Italy for their preliminary inquiry and to be ready for their first match.

Jose Mieles (Puerto Rico): "We are very glad to have the opportunity to play in these World Championships and we hve set ourselves a high target. Our players have third or fourth World Championships experience."

Marcos Kwiek (Dominican Republic): “First of all, I want to say good luck to everyone. Our group is a balanced one and we’ll do our best to feel like we always play a final match. We will fight day to day.”

Arnd Ludwig (Canada): “Except from the FIVB World Grand Prix, Canada have not played much this year. Our goal is to work hard and qualify for the next phase. Still, we have ten players in our team who have not played at world champs so far.”

Karch Kiraly (USA): "I want to thank the Italian volleyball federation and the local organisers. We saw a great spectacle in Poland at the men's World Championship and we expect much the same here. It's great for volleyball to have such wonderful organisation. We are excited to be here."

Jose Miguel Azair (Mexico): "We are very happy for being at the World Championship. In Mexico, volleyball is developing and playing with these teams for us is very important because I think we want to learn how to play like these teams. We hope to qualify for the next round and we will give our best volleyball."
