St Lucians living the Olympic dream on the sand
 

NANJING, China, August 17, 2014 - Skye Mondesir and Dala Noel both have now something special to tell about their young sports career.

 

Not only Mondesir and Noel reached the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing but the couple from St Lucia won their first match in the beach volleyball competition.

 

The youngsters from Saint Lucia debuted in the Beach Volleyball competition with a victory over Loluama Eti and Valisi Salalia of Tuvalu 2-0 (21-2, 21-12) in 21 minutes of play in Pool C.

 

In Pool A, Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara of Canada began with a victory against Brigitte Batioja and Mishelle Molina of Ecuador 2-0, (21-14, 21-14) in 28 minutes.

 

Puerto Ricans Lina Bernier Colón and Valeria Cajigas defeated Floflo Daniel and Lotie Joe of Vanuatu, 2-0 (21-16, 21-14), in 31 minutes.

 

United States’ duo of Skylar Caputo and Susannah Muno lost in their debut against Eduarda Lisboa and Ana Patricia Silva 0-2, by scores of 18-21 and 11-21 in 31 minutes in a match played in Pool B.

 

In Pool D, Guatemala’s Estefanie Bethancourt and Natalia Girón, fought hard against France’s Lezana Placette and Alexia Richard who came out with a victory in two sets (21-12, 21-17) in 37 minutes.

 

Also in Pool E, Trinidad and Tobago’s Malika Davidson and Chelsi Ward lost to Lisa Arnholdt and Sarah Schneider of Germany by scores of 21-15, 21-7, in 24 minutes.
