St. Lucia Rolls over St. Vincent to take Bronze

ST JOHN’S, Antigua/Barbuda, May 15, 2016- St. Lucia survived a scare from St. Vincent and the Grenadines (Team SVG) to eventually win 3-1(18-25, 25-10, 25-11 and 29-27) in the bronze medal match of the ECVA Youth Males Competition.

The entire game took just over an hour and a half but set 4 lasted 39 minutes and this proved to be the most eventful game. Team SVG suffered the loss of 8 points and paid the price by giving up two more penalty points for having an illegal player enter the floor. So after leading 8-2, the game reset had team SVG trailing 4-0.

They remained undaunted and clawed back from a huge deficit to lead the game on numerous occasions. St. Lucia had to call on their main attacker (Levi Leonce) to pull them through in the end.

Leonce ended with a game high 16 points and got some assistance from setter Andrew Marquis and Outside Hitter Joshua Hinkson who both contributed 8 points to the victory.

On the losing side a 10 point effort from middle blocker Maxie Dublin was the best effort from Team SVG.

St. Lucia dominated the team score sheet with 28 Kills, 8 blocks and 8 service aces while Team SVG had 18 kills 4 blocks and 4 service aces.
