Statistics workshop in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico

MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico, February 13, 2017 – The Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation organized a one-day workshop for statisticians in Mayaguez last Saturday February 11 with 48 participants mostly hailing from cities of the western part of the island.

Neila Alicea, director of info-technology of the Puerto Rican Federation, was the supervisor of the workshop which had Sylvette Ortiz, Sheila Alicea, Jose Velez and Ariel Martinez as the instructors.

“It was a very successful workshop and all the participants showed a lot of interest and had an active participation in both the theoretical and practical sessions,” Alicea said.

The statistics program was implemented by the Puerto Rican Federation since 1995 for the matches of the Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Superior Leagues.

“I want to thank the municipality of Mayaguez that supported the idea of the workshop since the very beginning and offered all the logistic conditions,” said Dr. Cesar Trabanco, president of the FPV. “We had an outstanding number of participants and this is part of our program to enhance our sport.”

The statistics workshop is the second development course carried out by the FPV in 2017 following the Level I Coaches Course in January with 36 participants.
