TTO Ladies visit Mayor of Himeji

 

HIMEJI, Japan, September 21, 2018 – Trinidad & Tobago ladies started their FIVB World Championships preparation in Himeji Japan camp with an amazing welcome from the Youth volleyball programs run by the Himeji Volleyball Academy, TTO ladies are being hosted by Hemiji Victorina Pro Volleyball team from 20th -27th sept in the beautiful City of Himeji before heading to world championships in the city of Kobe a few hours away. 

 

TTO had a smooth session, ladies came off an 18 hour flight  the day before and hit the court up and ready next morning, Coach Fransisco Cruz Jimenez said “I was happy with the session today everyone looked happy and enjoyed the first day.“

 

When asked about his goals going into the championships Mr Cruz said: “All I want is the best performance from my team every single game, it’s our first WC and all the other teams have been here before, so we have to enjoy the game and fight hard.“

 

The ladies were also invited to the office of Mayor of Himeji Mr. Toshikatsu Iwami , he gave a a warm welcome to the ladies, spoke of the city major sightseeing stops that we must visit, Mr Iwami said “I am happy to have Team Trinidad and Tobago here in my country and city and I hope one day to travel to your beautiful island.“

 

The Evenings Cultural event hosted at La Viena Hotel Himeji by the Mayor Toshikatsu Iwami and the President of the Himeji Volleyball Club Mr Akira Hashimoto was a spectacular event the ladies will never forget. The welcoming speeches by the Mayor congratulated the team on their achievement and wished them all the best at the event, the President also praised the success to Team TTO and hopes his Pro Team learns a lot from them in the week here training and playing against his team.

 

The highlight of the cultural show was a surprise to us all when they announced a Steel Pan side named Yamaura Seichi and one Heart Steel Band they opened with song by Calypso Rose Rum & Coca Cola which had the TTO ladies dancing away to the sweet pan music, they followed with our National Anthem where our ladies sang their hearts outs.

 

The President closed by thanking Team TTO and teaching them a few cheers to learn during games to sing along with crowd, in closing the president spoke of the scrimmages to be held later in the week and invited all guest to be present in support of both team for Team TTO ahead of World Championships.
