Teams complete registration and ready for action

BARRANQUILLA. July 27, 2018.- The presence of experienced couples in the Olympic Games, World Tour and several times champions of  NORCECA Tour, give greater prestige to the Beach Volleyball tournament of the Central American Games.

Mexico and Cuba, the biggest winners of medals in this event, as well as Colombia and Venezuela, jump as favorites to get a place on the podium.

Sergio González and Nivaldo Díaz, winners of the Gold medal in the CAC Games of Veracruz, four years ago and fifth in the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro in 2016, will hold a strong fight against the Mexicans Lombardo Ontiveros /Juan Virgen, who stayed with the silver medal in Veracruz, but who have grown a lot in the World Tour.

"We are in Barranquilla with only one objective, which is the same as always, to win the gold medal. We have a certain comfort because we are only three couples in the group and that gives us some advantage because we have one game less than other couples. We are focused on the goal of the gold medal”, said Gonzalez.

“Mexico is our main opponent, which in recent years has kept playing at a high level, on the World Tour, it is a team that deserves work, that you can not be loosened before them. Venezuela also has history and tradition, despite being a new couple”, said Nivaldo.

Mexican Martha Revuelta, winner of the silver medal in Veracruz, losing the final against Cuba, said that "we were training with my new partner (Zaira Orellana) all this year, we participated in the NORCECA, in a camp in Japan, but we know that in this tournaments can be for anybody".

"Cuba is always strong, Venezuela and Colombia are the teams to beat, although in beach volleyball you can not trust, all teams have possibilities," said Revuelta.

Puerto Rico presents the couple that qualified for the Youth Olympic Games, Allanis Navas / María Gonzalez, while Colombia has its national champion, Yuli Ayala / Diana Ríos.
