Teams of Dominican Republic and Peru play friendly series

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 8, 2016 – The U20 and U18 Female National Volleyball Teams of Peru and Dominican Republic have been training together and playing friendly matches at the Volleyball Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo.

The Peruvian and Dominican Republic Federations have been preparing their teams for the respective continental champions of the age group categories to take place in the month of August.

The coach of the junior team, former national team member Cristian Cruz said his side has won the four matches against the Peruvian opponents.

“In reality we are paying more attention to the evolution of our athletes than to the results,” Cruz said.

He said the team will be traveling to Orlando Florida on June 20 to take part in an invitational tournament.

The girls youth team also have been playing friendly matches against their Peruvian counterparts.

“The idea is to have playing opportunities and to check the strengths and weaknesses of each squad,” Cruz added.

Alexander Ceccato, coach of the youth team, said the friendly series and the training camp have been of benefit for both squads.
