U-21 Central American Beach Volleyball is underway

 

SAN JUAN DEL SUR, Nicaragua, May 26, 2013 - Teams of Nicaragua in the men’s division and Guatemala and El Salvador in the women’s side, achieved the biggest success during the first day of action at the U-21 Central American Tournament of Beach Volleyball.

 

In Men’s Pool A, the defending champions Ruben Mora and Miguel Lopez of Nicaragua won their three matches of opening day against Josue Flores/Andres Flores of Costa Rica –B (21-14, 21-14), followed with a 2-1 close victory (21-14, 19-21, 17-15) over Carlos and Armando Guatemala of El Salvador and closed with a 23-21, 21-8 win over José Vásquez and Cristobal Madriagada of Honduras.

 

In Pool B, Gerson Contreras/Luis López of Nicaragua-B defeated Anthony Solis and Andrey Quintero of Costa Rica-A in three sets (21-14, 19-21, 17-15). Solis/Quintero won 21-10, 21-10 over Luis Torres and Mario Ramirez of Guatemala and Contreras/Lopez would play Torres/Ramirez to decide the winner.

 

In the women’s division, being played under a round-robin format, Maria Vargas and Kathya Vasquez of El Salvador and Maria Andrea Orellana and Nadia Galan of Guatemala each won three matches in day one.

 

Vargas/Vasquez won 21-12, 21-17 over Kimberly Arguedas/Diana Sanchez (Costa Rica-B), 21-15, 21-18 against Valeria Valenciano/Angie Alfaro of Costa Rica-A and continued with a 21-10, 21-18 victory over Estefania Flores/Osiris Juarez of Nicaragua-B.

 

Orellana/Galan won 21-11, 21-11 against Socorro Lopez/Denisse Lopez of Nicaragua-B, 21-12, 21-11 over Arguedas/Sanchez and prevailed 22-20, 11-21, 15-13 against Valenciano/Alfaro.
