U.S. Virgin Islands win female Pool C

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December 9, 2015 - The United States Virgin Islands women moved from a set down to hammer displaced queens Martinique to advance unbeaten to the playoffs in the 10th CAZOVA Junior championships on Day Three of action at the Wildey Gym, Bridgetown.

Khrystin Rosa led four USVI players into double figures as they surged after losing the opening set at 22 to destroy Martinique at single scores of 8, 7 and 7.  Khrystin contributed 18 points with Anisha George adding 16, Keynanna John winning 13 and the younger Rosa, Khrysti scoring 11.

After taking the close first set, Martinique would have fancied their chances of taking the match and gaining a slim hope of moving into the medal round.  But, with only Noemie Beltant with 11 points proving a challenge, Martinique wilted against the might of their opponents.

USVI outscored Martinique 38-11 in spiking, 13-1 in blocking and 20-5 in serving to make a mockery of the lost first set. Curaçao ended 2-1 in Group C while both Martinique and Guadeloupe ended the preliminaries 1-2.
