U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup to start on Tuesday


FORT McMURRAY, Canada, May 15, 2017 – Members of the Control Committee to the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup arrived in Fort McMurray on Sunday two days before the start of the competition which grants two tickets to the age-group FIVB World Championship.


Ariel Sainz, president of the Control Committee and Alan Ahac, president of the Organizing Committee, co-chaired a joint meeting where the members of both bodies discussed the final details of the seven-team competition.


They visited the Keyana College Gymnasium, site of the competition, as well as the hotel for the participating teams.


Cuba, Chile and Puerto Rico will compete in Pool A while defending champions Brazil, Barbados, Guatemala and hosts Canada will battle in Pool B.


Those teams will go through the preliminary inquiry on Monday with the general technical meeting in the evening.


Besides Sainz, the members of the Control Committee are Guy Bradbury (Refereeing), Donibal Alvarez (Medical), Judith Sandino (VIS) and Jackie Skender (Media).


The top ranked team from NORCECA and the top team from South America will earn tickets from this event to the age-group FIVB World Championship to take place in the cities of Brno and Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic from June 23 to July 2.


Opening day on May 16 features the matches of Cuba v Chile, Brazil v Barbados and Canada v Guatemala.
