USA and Canada continue winning ways in FIVB WL

 

TULSA, United States, June 16, 2013 – The United States took its third victory of the 2013 FIVB World League on Saturday, beating France 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 24-26, 30-28, 15-9) at the Tulsa Convention Center Arena.

 

The United States improved its record in Pool A to 3-1. France departs the United States still looking for its first World League victory at 0-4.

 

Outside hitters Matt Anderson and Paul Lotman each scored 21 points for the United States. Middle blocker David Smith added 18 points. France was paced by Earvin Ngapeth with 23 points. Mory Sidibe and Julien Lyneel each added 15.

 

The U.S. led in kills (81-59) and in aces (5-3). The teams were tied in blocks (10-10). France scored 38 points on U.S. team errors while committing only 20.

 

In Mississauga, Ontario, Canada took command over Korea in night two on Saturday at Hershey Centre (25-23, 25-20, 25-20).

 

Gord Perrin was Canada's top scorer with 16 points, followed by right side Dallas Soonias with 15.  Soonias hit his stride this weekend, as he is replacing Canada's star attacker Gavin Schmitt who is injured. 

 

Korea's Kwang-In Jeon did manage 16 points and was Korea's top scorer against Canada this weekend.
