USA finish fifth, Dominicans in eighth

KORTRIJK, Belgium, July 18, 2021 – USA produced an incredible comeback from two sets down against Poland to win by 3-2 (14-25, 18-25, 25-16, 29-27, 15-13) and claim the fifth place at the FIVB Volleyball U20 Women’s World Championship.

Emily Londot scored 17 points to lead USA followed by Allison Jacobs with 14 points and Allyson Batenhorst with 12.

Brazil claimed the seventh place in the final standings after a 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-21) victory over the Dominican Republic on Sunday.

Livia dos Santos and Stephany Gomes each had 12 points as the top Brazilian scorers. Ana Rudiger was next with 11 and Carolina Grossi de Souza chipped in with 10.

Romina Cornelio and Flormarie Heredia finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Dominican Republic.
