USA hand Russia fourth straight loss

 

LONG BEACH, United States, June 7, 2014 – In front of a packed house, the United States improved with a 4-0 record in Pool B of the FIVB Volleyball World League on Saturday with a straight-set (25–19, 25–23, 25–17) win over Russia at the Walter Pyramid.

 

Russia, the defending champions, are still looking for their first victory in 2014.

 

One night after winning a 3-2 battle, the United States made it look much easier, leading in kills 41-38, in blocks 6-4 and in aces 4-1.

 

The United States also cleaned up their errors, committing 16 while scoring on 24 Russian miscues.

 

The United States’ Matthew Anderson led all scorers with 15 points on 14 kills and one ace, and Taylor Sander added 11 points on nine kills, one block and one ace, while Denis Biryukov paced Russia with 14 points on 13 attacks and one ace.
