USA improves to 2-0 at World Grand Prix

 

   

ANKARA, Turkey, July 4, 2015 - USA won their second game in the World Grand Prix Pool C, beating hosts Turkey 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 25-16, 25-21) on Saturday.

 

Karsta Lowe was the best scorer for USA team with 23 points, while teammate Kelsey Robinson contributed 13 in the victory. Turkey’s Neriman Ozsoy had 25 points in the losing cause.

 

The winners held the advantage in attacks 64-52, while the losers led in blocks 10-7 and service winners 5-2.

 

USA next plays Belgium to conclude the first weekend of action.

 

In Ningbo, China, Russia registered the second victory in Pool B cruising to a fairly speedy 3-0 win (25-15, 25-22, 25-8) over Dominican Republic. Russia outscored Dominican Republic in attacks 35-24, blocks 16-4 and service winners 5-3.

 

Kseniia Ilchenko and Alexandra Pasynkova led Russia with 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Lisevel Eve and Erasma Moreno had 9 and 8 for the Dominican team.

 

Dominican Republic faces Germany on Sunday.
