USA lost to Brazil to open Men’s VNL


KATOWICE, Poland, May 31, 2019 – Brazil swept United States 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-23) to start the first round of the 2019 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League in Katowice, Poland.


Brazil’s Ricardo Lucarelli led all scorers with 14 points all via spikes.


T.J. DeFalco led the defeated side in scoring with 11 spikes and two aces. Olympian Taylor Sander added 11 points on 11 kills and opposite Kyle Ensing had 10 points on eight kills and two blocks.


The United States team led in spikes (42) and aces (4-0) while the teams tied in blocks (5-5). The losers committed 28 errors while Brazil made 17.


Things don’t get any easier on Saturday when the United States will play defending World Champion Poland.
