DURANGO, Mexico, September 27, 2021 – United
States held off a resilient Argentina to win 3-2
(26-24, 23-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-7) their Round
of 16 contest at the U18 FIVB Girls’ World
Championship on Monday.
Also, Italy romped past over Canada in straight
sets 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-13) and Turkey beat
Mexico 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-17).
The USA team advanced to the top-eight
competition while Canada and Mexico join
Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico in the
consolation round of the 9 to 16 positions.
McKenna Wucherer led United States with 25
points, including two blocks and four aces, and
Harper Murray contributed 17 points to the
victory. Margaret Mendelson and Rebekah Allick
chipped in with 13 and 10, respectively.
Nicole Perez stood out for Argentina with 22
points, followed by Valentina Vaulet with 15. |
