USA’s Flinch and Larsen claim top honors in Cayman Islands

 

   

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, April 24, 2016 – Betsi Flinch and Kelley Larsen of United States-A claimed their first NORCECA women’s beach title at the Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament with a close victory over Costa Ricans Karen Cope and Nathalia Alfaro on Sunday.

 

Flinch and Larsen, who debuted in the NORCECA Circuit winning a bronze medal last week in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, stepped up to the top position of the podium following their 2-0 (21-19, 22-20) victory over the Costa Rican duo, who had finished fourth in the previous two stops of the continental tour.

 

Mexicans Claudia Rios and Gloria Santoyo took home the bronze medal with a lopsided 2-0 (21-8, 21-7) win over the home duo of Jessica Wolfenden and Stefania Gandolfi.

 

In the semifinals, Flint/Larsen dominated Wolfenden/Gandolfi 2-0 (21-10, 21-12) while Cope/Alfaro defeated Rios/Santoyo 2-0 (21-15, 21-17).
