USA’s Hall named MVP of U20 Pan American Cup

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, May 14, 2017 – Thayer Hall of United States was selected as Most Valuable Player of the U20 Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup won by her team on Saturday night with a straight set victory over Argentina.

Hall was the top scorer for the USA team and third overall with 61 points was the only member of the well balanced American side awarded during the closing ceremony.

Cuba claimed a lion’s share of the awards as players of their team took home six of the twelve awards.

Heidy Casanova of Cuba was the best scorer of the tournament with 70 points and also was recognized as the best opposite player.

Cubans Ailama Cese and Diaris Perez were named first and second best outside hitters, Laura Suarez was the second best middle blockers and Gretell Moreno was the best setter

Argentina’s Valentina Gonzalez took home the awards as bets libero, best digger and best receiver while Puerto Rico’s Kris Justiniano was named the best server and Dominican Geraldine Gonzalez was the first middle blocker.
