USA’s Kolinske and Evans win gold at Punta Cana

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, September 17, 2017 – William Kolinske and Miles Evans of United States-B captured the men’s gold medal at Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament, the fifth stop of the 2017 NORCECA Circuit on Sunday.

Kolinske/Evans scored a 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) victory over Sergey Grabovsky and Fiodar Kazhamiaka of Canada-A to obtain their first gold medal ever in the NORCECA Circuit. They won their six matches throughout the competition without losing a single set.

The American pair had finished with a silver medal in Ocho Rios, Jamaica this year and Kolinske had won a bronze medal with Mark Burik as a partner in Cayman Islands.

In the semifinal round, Kolinske/Evans swept compatriots Stafford Slick and William Allen of USA-A 2-0 (21-18, 21-15) while Grabovsky/Kazhamiaka beat William Sanchez and Víctor Castillo of Dominican Republic-A 2-0 (21-14, 25-23).

The bronze medal went to Slick/Allen who blanked Sánchez/Castillo 2-0 (21-15, 21-13).
