DURANGO, Mexico, September 23, 2021 - United
States managed a four set win over Romania 3-1
(25-21, 25-11, 18-25, 25-16) on day three of the
2021 Girls’ U18 World Championship in Durango,
Mexico, while Serbia had no difficulties to
outclass Canada at Fenadu Venue.
The U.S. finished the match with comfortable
advantages in every skill, attacks (46-35),
blocks (11-9) and serves (8-6).
Four American players scored double-digits, led
by middle blocker Margaret Mendelson with a
match-high 17 points, including four blocks and
three aces. Outside hitters Harper Murray and
Devin Kahahawai contributed 12 and 11 points,
respectively, and middle blocker and Captain
Allick Rabekah contributed 10 tallies.
Top scorers for Romania were outside hitter
Teodora Elena Iancu with 15 points, including
two blocks and one ace, and opposite hitter
Denis Stefania Cheluta with three blocks and two
aces among her 13 points.
In Pool A, Serbia beat Canada 3-0 (25-11, 25-10,
25-22) controlling the match from start to
finish.
Opposite hitter Jovana Zelenovic led Serbia with
13 points while middle blocker Hena Kurtagic and
outside hitter Ksenija Tomic finished with 12
and 10 points, respectively. |
